A first for our staff, we headed to AIA Build Pittsburgh’s Conference “Good Design Delivers” for a day of continuing education.   Held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, the conference focused on the nature of influence and showcased projects and seminars that demonstrated how “good design delivers.”  This year’s conference agenda appealed to both architects and landscape architects alike.  Many of us sought out the seminars that highlighted local projects and sustainable initiatives including: Pittsburgh’s Riverfronts Revisited, P4 Performance Measures: Reformulating Sustainable Development in Pittsburgh, Sustainable Multi-Family Projects in Pittsburgh and 3 Crossings Development: Transformative Design in Pittsburgh’s Iconic Strip District.  Across seminars, common threads of discussion included topics of sustainability, resiliency and equitable design.   With the exciting developments occurring in Pittsburgh we look forward to next year’s conference to continue moving the discussion forward on these critical topics.
