Mount Lebanon Parks Master Plan

The master plan provides designs and recommendations for Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania’s thirteen municipal parks and identifies ways to enhance the recreational opportunities and greenspaces to better serve Mt. Lebanon residents. Public participation was essential to both the development of the master plan framework and park specific recommendations. Public meetings, stakeholder meetings, focus groups and interviews were conducted which enabled detailed discussions on specific topics.

Ranging from passive open space and natural areas to tot lots, playgrounds and athletic fields, the master plan provides guidelines for physical enhancements, design recommendations, cost estimates, and phasing strategies and reflects municipal cost/maintenance issues for each park. On-site analysis was conducted at each park, documenting observations, measurements, and conditions which, in conjunction with community feedback was used to inform the design recommendations.

Reinforcing the goals set forth by the steering committee, the master plan addresses key elements including: recommendations to enhance the park system, individual park improvements, cost estimates and phasing and special issues- ecology, athletic fields, and dogs in the parks. At the conclusion of the master plan process, all work was summarized in a final report. Our leadership completed work on this project while at LaQuatra Bonci Associates.
