PARKing Day 2017 is finally here!  UpStudio Landscapes is excited to  be a part of the University of Pittsburgh’s inaugural PARKing Day.  We collaborated with the University of Pittsburgh Innovation Institute and the Living Learning Community (LLC) students to transform a parking spot in the Schenley Quad on Pitt’s campus into a space of creativity and fun.

Using lots of cardboard boxes and  materials collected by participants and the University’s Center for Creativity, students created life size building blocks.  The blocks were used to build a myriad of ever changing spaces and structures including replicas of campus buildings and even the Cathedral of Learning.    The interactive installation invited passersby to “innovate with us” and build something new.

PARKing Day  is an annual global event that enables people to collaborate and transform a parking spot into  temporary parks, art installations and engaging spaces and reclaims public space for people (not cars).
